New Research Grant Awarded
We are thrilled to announce that DISAL has been awarded a prestigious $2 million research grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). This funding supports our research on swarm intelligence applications for disaster response and emergency management.
The three-year project — 'Autonomous Swarm Coordination for Distributed Disaster Response' — will develop novel algorithms enabling large swarms of autonomous agents to coordinate in disaster scenarios, covering search-and-rescue, damage assessment, resource distribution, and emergency communications in GPS-denied environments.
This project will be conducted in collaboration with the Ghana National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), the African Union's Humanitarian Affairs Division, and several international research institutions. We are actively recruiting PhD students and postdoctoral researchers to join the team.
